$10k Grant Applications: FAQ

We're starting to get some good questions about the grant and how to apply. We've even heard from a few businesses who have applied in the past.

We'll continue to add to the list as we hear more from you. In fact, if you have a question about the grant please click the message button in the bottom right and ask!

I applied last round. Can I apply again?

Businesses who have not received grant money in the past can apply and be accepted. Your business will not qualify for the grant if you applied for and received matching funds during a previous round of the program.

Is there a special format for my application?

There is an application you must submit, but there is plenty of opportunity to present your best case. Our contact at the OSB stressed that applications should NOT be cookie cutter. Your application should be tailored to your specific business needs.

How do I know if I'm eligible?

Here's what Business Queensland says about eligibility:

To be eligible your business must:

  • have under 20 employees at the time of applying for the grant
  • have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and be registered for GST
  • be based in Queensland
  • have a turnover less than $2 million for the last 12 calendar months (as of the date of applying for the grant)
  • declare if any owners or directors of the business are an undischarged bankrupt or insolvent

Do I have to spend $10,000 to get the grant?

No! for successful applicants, the grant will match up to $10k in spending. That means you can spend as little or as much as you need to get the results your business requires. That could be $500 or $5,000.

[UPDATE] The grant will only help fund projects valued at $2,000 or higher. Per the Application Guideline, "the minimum grant funding amount is $1 000 therefore projects with a total cost less than $2 000 will not be funded."

It's up to you to define the project the money will help support if your application is successful.

When will the applications be open?

[July 21, 2017] We don't know yet. We expect it will be some time in July or August, but can't confirm that. We'll update this page as soon as we know.

[UPDATE] As of September 27, 2017. Applications must be submitted by 5PM on October 24, 2017.
